5th Annual BBQ Cook Off in Grapevine

Bass Pro Shops, Grapevine TX Store proudly host the 5th Annual BBQ Cook Off for Camp Craig Allen, a two-day Amateur BBQ Cook Off fundraising event in the front parking lot. Camp Craig Allen is a local non profit 501c3 organization raising money to build an entire barrier-free facility to be open year round for all physically disabled children and adults of North Texas. Join us Friday, September 9th when gates open and bands start playing at 5pm. Kickoff Party tickets for Friday night are available on http://www.campcraigallen.org which will include the kickoff party, concert, dinner & casino from 5pm-12midnight. Live Auction 8pm.

This high energy party on Friday Night is the Kickoff Party to the largest amateur BBQ Cook off in North Texas. Come back on Saturday, September 10th, with gates opening at 10am-7pm. The 65 amateur BBQ team enthusiasts will compete in a range of 15 categories and you’ll want to come out with the whole family for this! Gates open Saturday, September 10th with free admission all day, or for a $10 donation, you can sample all you can eat BBQ prepared by all the BBQ teams. Saturday is 10am and BBQ served all day until 6PM. All the awards are given at the main stage 7PM. Saturday is family oriented with a dedicated kids corral with activities for everyone! From concessions, a Silent Auction with over 200 items, several live bands, fun games, and more, it’s definitely great food, great fun and for a great cause!

Lewisville Fire Department will have a 9/11 ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11, 8:45-9:45 a.m., at the Firefighter Memorial at Central Fire Station, 188 N. Valley Parkway. This is the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington D.C. and rural Pennsylvania that killed more than 3,000 people, including more than 300 public safety responders. The city’s Firefighter Memorial includes a piece of steel box beam from the South Tower of the World Trade Center and a listing of all the public safety personnel who died that day. The memorial is outdoors and open to the public

49th Annual National Championship Indian Pow Wow

Colorful tribal dance contests, arts & crafts, cultural heritage demonstrations, teepee and Indian food will be part of this year’s annual National Championship Indian Pow Wow on Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, September 9 – 11, 2011 at Traders Village in Grand Prairie. Sponsored by the Dallas/Fort Worth Inter-Tribal Association, the two-and a-half day event is free to the public. Several hundred Native Americans, representing dozens of tribes from across the United States, will take part in this colorful celebration of culture and heritage.
